The Edelrid Ohm Climbing Brake acts as an assistant to increase the friction of the rope when there is a large weight difference between the belayer and the leader. In the event of a fall, the OHM increases the amount of friction in the rope so that a lighter belayer can easily hold a heavier climber.

It is a fundamental tool to balance the weight between the insurer and whoever is climbing, significantly helping the insurer's work.

The Ohm is installed on the first quickdraw of the route being climbed and can be installed directly on the bolt or on another quickdraw.

The climber does not notice the difference because Ohm of Edelrid does not prevent the rope from sliding upwards. In the event of a fall of the first, the Ohm comes into operation and brakes the fall thus helping the belayer who would receive a much more violent blow without this brake.
